Seb Coe, London 2012 Chair thanked the Games Makers at the closing ceremony last night, noting that "volunteers who gave their time, boundless enthusiasm and goodwill, have the right to say tonight: 'I made London 2012.’” President of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge, praised the volunteers for the contribution they had made to the 17 successful days and said “You have shown the world the best of British hospitality.”
Vanessa brought back to work a mountain of British pride, enthusiasm and stories, and documented her Olympic Journey through pictures. Here are just a few…
Note from Vanessa –
“This has been an experience I have been looking forward to for the last year and I never really thought of it as giving up something. The hours were long - I've fallen asleep on the Tube going home - but everyone has been so happy and the atmosphere was constantly electric. This has definitely been the biggest event in my lifetime – I wanted the Games to go on forever. Eddie Izzard promised us volunteers would be ‘part of the greatest show on Earth’; it certainly felt like that and more to me."
