We spend roughly 7.5 hours a day, 5 days a week, 144 hours a month, at work. That’s more time than we spend doing most other daily tasks, including some basic human needs such as eating, drinking and only slightly less than we spend asleep.
So if you don’t love what you do, this time can really drag. At theblueballroom, we believe in employee engagement and making sure every employee feels valued, listened to, and passionate about what they do.
Recently I watched legally blonde (probably for the millionth time) and she says something at the end that many of us fail to remember;
“Passion is a key ingredient to […] life.”
Truer words were never spoken. Without the drive that passion instills how can we possibly lead a fulfilling life? And how can we hope to make a difference?
I’ve recently adopted a new catchphrase ‘Keep moving forward, but always look where you’re going’ a play on Walt Disney’s famous motto ('Keep moving forward'). Let life take you were it will, but accept the fact we all have choices. We do not blindly go anywhere and whilst we can’t control everything, learn to take note of the things we can control.
Feel dispassionate? Notice your employees are struggling? Do something about it. Because a life free from passion is a difficult one, but it doesn’t have to be like that.
