Next up on my minute interviews with the team is Gill, our Senior Graphic Designer. Gill has been with us for a decade, through thick and thin - she's our design rock, fountain of design knowledge, you get the gist, we love her. What is your favourite thing about being a Senior Graphic Designer (SGD), especially agency side?

When you work in an agency you never know what sort of work will come in from day-to-day. I get to work on many different collateral using many different styles from across different companies - which makes the job much more interesting than just working with one client.

What has been your favourite project you’ve worked on in your SGD life?

I don't really have a favourite, as the jobs are most exciting when you first receive them, but I love doing large jobs with a variety of channels i.e. video animation, exhibition boards, posters, brochures etc - then at the end you get to look at it as a whole and it's so rewarding.

What would be a ‘what not to do’ as an SGD?

Don't be overly defensive and precious. I like people to feel that they can come into the Studio and say what they feel – nobody likes to hear their work criticised, but negatives can be turned into positives.

Give me your top three tips on being the wise and creative SGD that you are:

  1. Try to stay calm – getting stressed makes life harder and time go quicker!
  2. Believe that inspiration will come.
  3. Work in a team and share what you're thinking as ideas can grow and morph unexpectedly, especially with your team's input.
