As a Senior Account Manager, Chris leads projects for a wide variety of clients. These projects range from developing and maintaining regular comms channels through to one-off creative campaigns, and marketing comms through to comms training. So here's the next in my one-minute-with series: What’s your favourite thing about being a Senior Account Manager (SAM), especially agency side?
The opportunity to build real relationships with clients – understanding not just their business agenda but also their pride in what they and their business does.
What has been your favourite project you’ve worked on in your SAM life?
Turning a client’s 3,000 word strategic narrative into a concept and script for a 3-minute cartoon video featuring astronauts, a star and a giant plug!
What would be a 'what not to do' as an SAM?
Fall into the ‘seen it all before’ trap. It’s essential to approach every new project with fresh eyes and fresh thoughts to ensure that the solution fits the business need rather than vice versa.
Give me your top three tips on being the brilliant SAM that you are:
1) Listen and understand first, think and collaborate second, act third. 2) Share your client’s pride and passion. 3) Be prepared to constructively challenge colleagues and clients.
