So it's the new year... hello 2015! The Christmas break has flown by and all of a sudden I'm back at my desk trying to remember the log in for my computer. My trousers are too tight and I'm missing my daily 4pm snooze. Anyone feeling the same? This post Christmas slump always leads me down the same road - it's time to think about resolutions - both personal and professional. Every year I promise myself a plethora of things: get fitter, be healthier, be happier, lose weight, achieve something brilliant, do some training at work, work harder in general - the list goes on ...but you get my drift. Sound familiar? I know, I know. But guess what? I've decided I'm not doing that this year. Enough of the same empty resolutions year after year that last for approximately two weeks and four days. It's time to change things up a bit - 2015 is MY year (dramatic music please.)
So imagine this... I'm in a totally positive mindset after the little word I've just had with myself, and whilst perusing the internet and wondering what to write about today, I come across this Huffington Post blog called '15 ways to make 2015 your most successful year yet'. Perfect! And number one is 'ditch your resolutions and make SMART goals instead'. WHAT?! This author had read my mind! SMART goals are something that is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Time-bound. If that doesn't sound sensible, I don't know what does!
I urge you to read this blog. It's brilliant on both a personal and professional level and with 2015 being a year for focus on professional development at theblueballroom, it strikes a chord there too (number six). These are simple and achievable aims for the coming year - and I plan on printing this out and sticking it to my forehead, at least for the next two weeks and four days, and we'll see how we go after that!
