Data Journalism was the topic of a fantastic panel run by The Media Society this week in London. A fantastic panel of data journalists from Trinity Mirror (David Ottewell) and the FT (Martin Stabe) as well as the insightful Jacqui Taylor from Flying Binary (who spoke at our launch thefuturestory event last year) gave an informed and lively debate around 'data journalism: mapping the future?'.

Some of the highlights are included in my Storify below as the discussion was continued on Twitter #mediasociety.

The event, expertly chaired by Raymond Snoody, former media editor at The Times, supported the launch of a new book 'Mapping The Future' which I'm looking forward to reading.

We hope to share more on related topics through our thefuturestory events coming up over the next few months.

The discussion provided lots to think about, but the important message that came through was that the impact of data is happening now and will affect each and every one of us. With such a powerful tool available to us, it is an exciting time for business and the communications industry I'm sure you will agree!
