What’s in and what’s out of fashion for the look and feel of your offering? That’s a perennial question for clients and designers the world over. The only certainty is that as soon as it’s in, it’s out again! Take, for example, weird beard news released today (16 April). Beards are back in fashion but, according to the University of NSW, are not going to be around for long.

Researcher Robert Brooks told Guardian Australia: “It appears that beards gain an advantage when rare, but when they are in fashion and common, they are declared trendy and that attractiveness is over.”

Called ‘negative frequency-dependent sexual selection’, this phenomenon is apparently present in several animal species.

It’s fascinating and obvious in equal measure. Fashion by its very nature is ephemeral. Whether it’s facial hair, crop tops or a design trend – it’s no sooner in than out again.

At theblueballroom we not only have a sharp eye on what’s trending but also have the creativity to develop a truly distinct look and feel for your online and offline offerings.
