Ahhh….the lead up to Christmas. There seems to be a frenzy of activity about getting things accomplished and completed in time for the ultimate break when there will be no email disturbance till the New Year. It’s been as busy as always at theblueballroom with our own preparations for the festive season and last week we had the office party. Now usually, that conjures up some grizzly image of party hats and mince pies but no, there was nothing like that at our Christmas party. Our UK team boarded a flight at 7am, appropriately dressed in Christmas jumpers, and flew to Bonn/Cologne to meet with our German colleagues based there. The first stop was at a lovely cafe for a breakfast bonanza in Cologne where we also had a team briefing for the day's photo challenge. Our creativity and spontaneity couldn't be stifled because of a party! We rose to the challenge that was required; to take a photograph to match seven given categories. We then split off to experience Cologne, its culture, Christmas markets, take the necessary photos and to do some essential “Glühwein research”.
Later in the afternoon, with our photo challenges all complete, we met for a Christmas meal where we laughed so much over our hilarious photos, (won by Russell's adorable picture of the little dog) and secret Santa game that before we knew it, we were returning to the airport for our flight home.
In such a short space of time (well, about 21 hours) our Christmas party was over, but as a result of such a fun day, we are united as an even stronger team. It was a lovely experience for us all and we all appreciated not just the day in Cologne, but how much we enjoy working together.
