Work here’s been incredibly busy
And a blog is long well overdue
So on National Poetry Day
A poem will just have to do

Mere mention of the word ‘poem’
And the memories start to appear
Of verse oft heard in my childhood,
Like The Owl and the Pussy Cat of Lear

Back then was Pam Ayres’ heyday,
On Opportunity Knocks she unleashed
Her humorous collection of ditties,
Like: Oh I wish I looked after my teeth.

Now that’s enough reminiscing.
Today’s theme is all about ‘work’.
Our business is communication –
So a quick plug surely won’t hurt?

And being National Kids’ Book Week
With it’s focus of rhythm and rhyme,
On reading and writing, whatever the form,
We really should spend much more time.

Spending months devising a strategy
For business in a major downturn
Needs careful thinking and planning
If you’re to get the best of returns.

On creative writing we wax lyrical,
And storytelling – we’ve got it sussed
To enhance employee engagement
Today they’re a corporate must.
